I have spent years in corporate meetings and senior roles and VERRYYY Important Strategy Discussions that made me ask myself: is this really it?
What if I told everyone what I’m actually doing?
But no, what about my startup and brands and project and job? And also, WHAT WOULD THE DAMN PEOPLE SAY?!

I know, I shouldn’t care.

But you and I we both know, that confused branding is bad branding so this is why I created Lauren. To not care about that. And now, here we go.

I’m 40. I’m a mother of two kids — 1 very small, 1 very tall. I’ve spent most of my adult life in sales roles at tech companies you’ve probably never heard of, doing things that looked impressive on a CV and felt pretty much hollow in real life.

I’ve been online since the dial-up era. The sound of a modem connecting to the internet sounds soothing to me.

I was there when you had to choose between an argument with your mom because having internet AND the phone was impossible.

I was there for ICQ (ohohhh) and Napster and the first time someone showed me Google and I thought “WOW, this will change the world!” and it pretty much did.

So when people treat AI like it suddenly appeared out of nowhere, I find it a little funny. I’ve been watching this building up for a long time. I used GPT-2 when it came out (and was very confusing). I’ve played with things that no longer exist and things that are now biiiig names. I’ve used AI stuff before anyone knew what that chatting with a GPT could be sensational.

None of this makes me an expert! I’m clueless when it comes to coding, helpless when stuff breaks (and annoyed..) but I know how to find stuff to unbreak stuff.

All of this just means I’ve been curious for longer than most.

Why I’m building Lauren

I love doing what I do. But most of the time I didn’t.

I want to show that AI is actually useful, not in a “ChatGPT will write your emails!” demo kind of way, but in a “I had an idea, went to the toilet and my agents build me a demo” kind of way. Because that’s what’s actually happening. That’s what almost nobody is talking about clearly enough, cause it seems to be reserved only for hardcore coders, or knowledgeable people, that I am clearly not.

I can’t code. I’ve tried. It doesn’t stick. I hate it. I take notes by hand preferably. (Fucking old school, I know. I know.) and I’ve genuinely sent handwritten ideas to my AI tools to bring to life.

And it works.

And that’s the thing I want to write about.

What this blog is going to be

Every few days, I’ll share what I’ve been building, testing, breaking, and occasionally fixing.

Some of it will be useful, and / or a fuckup story. They are useful too!

I’ll cover AI tools honestly, not “here are 7 apps that will transform your workflow” bullshit but “I paid for this, and I hated it” I’ll share automations I’ve set up, experiments that went sideways (like when I setup OpenClaw), and things I stumbled across while looking for something else entirely.

I won’t pretend to understand things I don’t. I won’t recommend tools I haven’t used. I won’t tell you how AI is going to change your life (well it will anyway).

This is my diary, and you are you are stealing my pages.

A note on the pen name

Lauren is a pen name. But I am real; the decision to separate the professional LinkedIn version from Lauren is something that just makes sense for ME.

I’m not hiding. I’m just making space to be honest in a way that’s harder when you’re attached to projects that depend on your positioning, or at least this is how it feels like fo rme. But: If you figure out who I am: Say hi if you dare 😉

Keep reading if that sounds like your kind of thing. Tell a friend if it sounds like their kind of thing. Or don’t, the right people will find this.

Questions I’ll probably get asked (so I’m answering them now)

Who actually writes this?

I do. With a lot of help from AI tools, which I’ll be transparent about when relevant. The ideas, the opinions, are all mine!

Do you have a coding background?

Hell, no! Zero. I’ve tried to learn multiple times and I turned into a grumpy, miserable person. Everything I build is built with AI assistance, no-code tools, and an unreasonable amount of energy.

What AI tools do you actually use?

Lots of them, and it changes. I’ll be specific about which tools I’m using in each post rather than giving you a static list that’s outdated by next month.

Of course, when relevant! I’m not a millionaire and I need to buy food 😉 I only link to things I actually use and pay for myself.

How often do you publish?

Every Sunday Morning. Roughly. I have 2 kids, a healthy relationship and one very needy and clingy boxer dog, so I’ll give my best.

Can I reach you?

Yes. Find me on X at laurenlovesai. I read everything and I reply whenever I can.

What if I’m also non-technical and feel left out of the AI conversation?

That’s exactly who this is for. You’re not behind. You’ve found the right place <3
